Ndamukong Suh: Looking forward to playing in this heat.

Advertisements

Week one is right there, it’s so close that we can almost hear the cannon reports, and smell the smoke in the air. I can visualize the fans filling the stands in droves, a sea of red and pewter sounding off in full trepidation as the wait is finally over. Will Tampa bring the heat? The elements will certainly bring their heat as it will be in the mid to high 80’s with 63-65% humidity; essentially, it’s going to be hot, and it’s going to be muggy.

For one player, they are looking forward to getting out there on the field and playing in this heat. Having played in sunny California last year and in Miami previously, Ndamukong Suh is eager to get out there and play under our Tampa sun.

“I’m excited to get back to football. It’s always fun Week One, getting two weeks, pretty much, to prepare. I’m excited to get out there Sunday in this nice heat.”

Suh has talent, there is no question about that, and he has been around the league long enough to know talent when he sees it. The veteran defensive lineman believes the Buccaneers, as a whole, are formidable.

“We’ve got a tremendous amount of talent. Without question, we have a lot of talent on both sides of the ball, and even on special teams, and I think it’s about execution for us, playing at a high level.”

The excitement level of the players is certainly through the roof, and you don’t have to be in the war room to know this. For some, it may just be another day at the office, but for the Tampa Buccaneers and their fans, it’s life, and the long wait is just a day away from finally being over. Maybe even more so for these younger players getting their first taste of regular-season action as an NFL player. It’s electric.

Bruce Arians announces team captains

Advertisements

Jameis Winston will be team captain alongside his left guard Ali Marpet and his favorite target, Mike Evans

On the defense, Carl Nassib and Lavonte David get the “C” .

The big news here is that not only did he make the team, but Dare Ogunbowale earns the captains patch for special teams.

The obvious guys got their patch while Carl Nassib getting one may be a little surprising, it was well earned as were all of them.

Now that the captains are named, let’s get ready for some football!

Vita Vea talks about his return to practice

Advertisements

Vita Vea returned to practice and was glad to be back. Earlier in August, Vea suffered an LCL sprain that put fear into the hearts of everyone. Multiple MRI’s were done, and in conclusion, surgery was not needed. A collective sigh of relief could be heard for miles. He was due to miss up 6 weeks, not the regular season, but the preseason, but now Vea is back and ready to get back into the swing of things.

“Shoot, it felt great. It was fun being back out there after sitting out watching for the past couple weeks. It felt fun to actually get back out there and play and get into the swing of things.”

Of course, Vea is going to be much needed in the upcoming week one home opener against the San Francisco 49ers, and he knows exactly how important this week will be as the defensive unit begins to fit together.

“I feel like it is really important. We’ve just got to go out there and prove what we can do collectively as a defense, not individually. I feel like this is what the coaches have been preaching to us to work together, communicate and things like that. We will see Sunday how everything and fits and how the cookie crumbles from there. After that, we will fix it from there.”

The Buccaneers have been practicing vigorously and the coach fine-tuning his team all offseason and preseason, and now it’s time to go to work! time to defend our house!

Bruce Arians talks about his decision to bring on TJ Logan

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers recently added running back/ kick return specialist to the team’s arsenal, and for some, it was an unexpected move. Until the other day, many were of a belief that Bobo Wilson was to be the primary kick return guy. The addition of TJ Logan says otherwise.

When asked if he will be playing on Sunday, Arians did not beat around the bush. Logan will now be our kick returner, starting Sunday, and head coach Bruce Arians said that people need to learn his name quickly.

“He will be. Guys need to learn his name real quick.”

Arians originally drafted TJ Logan in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft while he was head coach of the Arizona Cardinals. Arians really likes Logan, and was taken aback when the news came out that he been placed on the waiver wire.

“A guy I loved when I drafted him. 4.3 speed at running back – great kick returner, punt returner. Dislocated his wrist in the Hall of Fame game and we lost him. We had high hopes for him and kind of had been hoping that might happen. I was hearing he was having a great camp, so I didn’t think it would happen, but he gives us a pass receiving speed back and a kick returner.”

A 4.3 speed at running back and gives us a pass receiving speed back? Now, one would have to wonder what does that mean for Ronald Jones II at running back, and if signing TJ Logan had anything to do with Bruce Arian’s confidence in the second year running back. The question did arise as to if signing TJ Logan had anything to do with his confidence in Ronald Jones II; Arians quickly laid that question to rest.

“I have a lot of confidence in Ronald Jones. He’s going to have a hell of a year.”

I wouldn’t think that this team is officially set in stone at every position just yet and as the weeks go by, I am sure Bruce Arians will have his ear to the grapevine, searching for upgrades everywhere he can. But for now, the team looks pretty good to me, and we finally get to see them regular-season action this Sunday!

Logan played for 4 seasons at the University of North Carolina recording 2,165 and 19 touchdowns on 398 attempts. He also caught 76 passes for 663 yards and 4 touchdowns. At the kick return position, TJ logan was a specialist. He returned 77 kicks for 2,098 yards and 5 touchdowns.

About Kendell Beckwith…

Advertisements

Back in March, I wrote a short article on what was believed of Kendell Beckwith’s future. There was a Fear that Kendell Beckwith’s injury was career-ending

Scott Reynolds of Pewter Report, who was on hand at the combine earlier this year, also reported that the majority of belief is that Beckwith’s career was in jeopardy.

“The news isn’t optimistic about Beckwith being able to play in 2019 just yet, either. The team even has some concerns that Beckwith’s injury might be career-ending, although they are holding out hope that something in his recovery will change for the better this offseason.”

Some went wild with Jenna Laine’s reply to one of her followers, citing that there was an update on Beckwith’s status and that he was likely done in the NFL.

The news was believed for a long time and Jenna Laine was just relaying what she had heard from one of her sources in response to a question asked on her twitter.

Via our Instagram post, which was for some reason removed by the handler, Jenna Laine clarified that she was just responding to a question.

Jenna Laine is an excellent source of news, is always on point, and we have great respect for her, however, some just write up whatever they see on Twitter as new information or updates. Fact is, there is nothing new to see here.

We wish Beckwith luck during his recovery, and if he decides to call it quits, we will understand and join him in his sadness.

The Buccaneers fill final practice squad spot with Tight End

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have filled their final practice squad opening with the re-signing of  TE Jordan Leggett.

Leggett was claimed by Tampa of waivers from the Jets back in late May and showed some promising attributes.

He received 3 passes, during the preseason for 39 yards with a long of 22 that went in for a touchdown against the Browns. In the 3rd quarter against the Browns this preseason, Ryan Griffin found himself under pressure on 3rd and 2 but found a wide-open Jordan Leggett who took the ball the distance, sidestepping a defender for the score.

The Practice squad:

Running Back – Bruce Anderson Tony Brooks-James
Defensive Back – John Battle
Corner Back – Mazzi Wilkins
Quarter Back – Nick Fitzgerald
Wide Receiver – Emanuel Hall
