Patience is a Virtue

With the 5th pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select…Devin White, Linebacker from LSU. We were all in heaven when the Bucs selected the super athletic game wrecker from LSU in 2019. In his rookie season, White would total 91 combined tackles. He followed that up with 140, 128, 124, and 83. During that time, he would be a key part of the Buccaneers defeating the Chiefs to capture a Super Bowl, but that all changed when the personality outweighed the production. Now White is in Philadelphia, and a new star is born in K.J. Britt.

While White was dominant on the field, his game had glaring defects. K.J. Britt stepped in to fill the void last season. He showed the entire fan base why the Bucs spent a 5th round pick on him in 2021. Injuries and playing time just have kept him off the field. When he was given a chance last season, he totaled 16 tackles and paired well with Lavonte David. He is the total package when it comes to being an elite NFL linebacker. He can attack the run, cover the pass, and get after the quarterback. The Buccaneers were never going to open the bank doors for Devin White. They knew what they had in K.J. Britt, and their patience may pay huge dividends in 2024.
