The Tampa Bay Buccaneers defied all the nay-sayers last year by winning the NFC South and making a postseason run that would eventually stop in Detroit. The Buccaneers took a chance on outcast quarterback Baker Mayfield, and it paid off big time. Baker threw for 4,044 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. These stats would lead him to make the Pro Bowl. Ultimately, the offensive line would be the Buccaneers’ downfall.

Tristan Wirfs is next on the list of Buccaneers that need to be signed. He is due for an extension and is arguably the most important signing in the history of the Buccaneers. He has proven he can dominate as a Left Tackle and Right Tackle. His list of accomplishments is already one of a future Hall of Famer. These include a Super Bowl, 1st and 2nd Team All-Pro, 3x Pro Bowler, and All-Rookie Team. Wirfs is just waiting for the Brinks truck to back up and open the doors. Tristan Wirfs has solidified a Buccaneers offensive line that has been in disarray for years. Even during our Super Bowl run in 2021-22, the Buccaneers struggled to protect Brady. The bottom line for Jason Licht and Company is to get Wirfs signed.

If and When the Buccaneers get Wirfs signed, they will roll out one of the NFL’s best offensive units. They drafted center Graham Barton out of Duke to fill the void left by Ryan Jensen. This allows for Luke Goedeke to move back to right tackle. He filled in last year at center, but the most success comes from the tackle position. The Buccaneers should be able to defend the South again in 2024, but only time will tell. One thing is for sure, if Wirfs doesn’t get paid, the Buccaneers’ window may be closed for the foreseeable future.
