For those worried about Todd Bowles’ history as a head coach, don’t be. His 24-40 record should not be indicative of what Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans can expect. The Bucs’ newly appointed head coach has learned from his mistakes, realizing that he was fired from the New York Jets because he was trying to do things everyone else’s way. But this time around, things will be done his way.

“I think that when I first started in New York [I found that] when you try to do things the ‘right way,’ you don’t do things your way, and you end up having regret. So I’m going to do things my way.

I think when you take a head job [for the first time], you have to wear a lot of hats, but you had never experienced wearing those hats,” he said. “When you understand that going in…without the experience, I think you tend to do things a little differently. You have to be man enough to know when you can change things. Usually, when people get fired, they blame everybody else. The first thing I did was look within myself, and there were a lot of things I can do better.” – via Scott Smith senior writer/editor of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Todd Bowles will still call the defense but will use a co-defensive coordinator approach to the season, with linebacker coach Larry Foote and defensive line coach Kacy Rodgers fulfilling the dual role. Kacy Rodgers was Todd Bowles’ defensive coordinator with the New York Jets from 2015 to 2018.

Bowles has become the heir of a Super Bowl-caliber team, and with his experienced staff around him, the Buccaneers should make this extremely tough schedule a little bit easier. Did I forget to mention that we also have the GOAT?
