As much as many held out, as tightly as fingers were crossed, and as much hope against hope, today, Tom Brady has officially announced his retirement from the NFL.

In just 2 seasons, the veteran QB completely transformed the franchise that was more known for losing and propping up the NFC South, holding many records, another Lombardi, as well as the hearts of probably every fan that bleeds pewter and red.

Now without Brady, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will again transform. Nobody can doubt the Brady effect that brought players such as Gronkowski out of retirement (likely to re-retire) and Free Agents who wanted to play with the GOAT. But now the goat has gone, what next?

With no answer at QB, and 24 players to leave the team through UFA and retirement, excluding Brady, this is going to be a VERY different team by preseason starts. Players such as Centre, Ryan Jensen, must ask themselves if they really want to be part of a rebuild, one they won’t see to completion likely? Will Chris Godwin turn down a huge contract to maybe return to the postseason?

Thirteen of the 24 players that are likely to leave Tampa are starters; the rest are core-special teams contributors and depth. With coaches, coordinators, and players leaving make zero mistakes, this is a huge rebuild, where the Bucs are looking for a completely new team.

For fans, this news is likely to be devastating, but do not despair, this guarantees a very active off-season for the Buccaneers.
