Former Buccaneers Defensive Lineman Signs With Pittsburgh

Khalil Davis (84) Kim Klement | USA Today Sports

Earlier this month, Davis was waived before the Buccaneers faced the Patriots in New England and did not clear waivers. He was quickly snatched up by the Indianapolis Colts. Davis had a handful of interested organizations during his brief stay on the waiver wire.

The Pittsburg Steelers were interested in the young defensive tackle out of Nebraska back then, so he had almost joined his brother Carlos who is also a defensive lineman.

Fast forward to this week, and the Steelers have their man. Khalil Davis was waived by the Indianapolis Colts and was instantly picked up by the Pittsburgh Steelers and signed to their practice squad.

Davis was drafted in the 6th round of the 2020 NFL Draft and played in two games in 2020, recording just 2 combination tackles. However, he did see action in two postseason games last year, seeing 28% of the defensive snaps. The 2nd year DT out of Nebraska had a solid collegiate career, recording 13 sacks, 105 total tackles, 24 for a loss, 1 forced fumble, 2 fumbles recovered, and 3 passes defended in 36 games throughout 4 seasons.
