With the NFL releasing their Top 100 players, 7 players from the reigning Super Bowl Champion, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, found themselves on the list, while one player seemed to just fall short of the list.
After an exceptional season, Bucs guard Ali Marpet just missed out on making the Top 100 list, which left most fans scratching their heads and feeling shunned by those responsible for making the list. Below are the players that did make the list, some debuting for the first time in their career.
82.Tristan Wirfs: ” – As a rookie, Wirfs helped solidify an offensive line that in previous years was in desperate need of a quality player on the right side, and Wirfs was absolutely that player. Only allowing one sack throughout the whole year, he quickly became a staple in the Bucs Super Bowl run.
62. Mike Evans: Evans had a solid season in 2020, becoming the only player in NFL history to record seven straight 1,000 yard seasons while posting a career high in touchdowns with 13. If not for injuries, Evans could’ve easily been the top receiver in the NFL. (2020 rank: 30th)
59. Chris Godwin: Even though his numbers took a slight dip in 2020 from the previous year, Godwin was able to manage 67 catches and seven touchdowns. Even with a dislocated finger, he remained one of the team’s top targets. (2020 rank: 38th)
56. Shaquil Barrett: After a tremendous 19.5 sack campaign in 2019, Barrett’s numbers slightly dropped with only eight sacks, but he continued to be one of the major players in 2020 including the playoffs, recording four sacks which included two on Patrick Mahomes during Super Bowl LV. (2020 rank: 32nd)
44. Lavonte David: As Tampa fans will tell you, David is one of the most underrated linebackers in the league, especially with his off-the-ball ability to chase down opposing players. David re-signed with the Bucs following the team’s Super Bowl LV victory and looks to continue wrecking havoc on opposing teams. (2020 rank: 100th)
33. Devin White: Not much can be said about “Get Live 45” as his second season continued to show fans why the team selected him in the 1st round of the 2019 draft. With his speed and agility, White has become one of the best inside linebackers in the game, but the best has yet to come for the man who was snubbed out of the Pro Bowl and Defensive Player of the Year. (2020: NR)
4. Tom Brady: Brady showed the critics why even at 43, you don’t doubt the GOAT. He had some shaky moments in November but played tremendously down the stretch in route to his seventh Super Bowl title. (2020 rank: 14th)
For a player who has missed just a handful of snaps since entering the league in 2015, it seems like the sky is the limit for Marpet. If he continues to play at a high level, it’ll seem impossible that the Hobart product misses the list again.
