When Tom Brady had Randy Moss to throw to, it was devastating for opposing defenses. It was the perfect scenario. While playing pitch and catch in New England – 2007-2009 and four more games in 2010 – Brady connected with Moss for an outstanding 39 touchdowns. No other wide receiver Brady has ever thrown to can say that, and as a matter of fact, only current Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski has caught more (79). Brady recently appeared on Religion of Sport, Apple TV, and was asked what he thought his greatest performance was. Brady stated that the game in Buffalo against the Bills in 2007 was a no-brainer. Brady threw for 337 yards in that game, 5 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions. – It helps when you are not sacked at any time. Moss collected 128 yards on 10 receptions and accounted for 4 of Brady’s 5 TD passes on the day. As a matter of fact, all four of Randy Moss’s touchdown reception came in the first half of that contest.
- 43-yard TD catch – 1st quarter.
- 16-yard TD catch – 2nd quarter.
- 6-yard TD catch – 2nd quarter.
- 17-yard TD catch – 2nd quarter.
After Brady fondly reminisced about that extraordinary feat, he posted a Tweet on July 10th, attesting to as much, as well as facetiously recruiting Randy Moss to return to the game.
“Hey Randy, Bucs Red would look Good on you! Have a few snaps left?”
As fun as it sounds to have Moss in a Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ uniform, it is just not going to happen. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame 2018, hasn’t played a down in the NFL since 2012, and between the years 2010 and 2012 had a significant drop off in play. – Not to say that he could not come back and play again if he wanted to, or that he does not have anything left in the tank, we just have great receivers, and Moss thinks so too, so Moss will continue to enjoy retirement.
Moss quickly responded to Brady’s Tweet, thanking him for the memories, and seemed agog to hear that Brady actually wanting him to come in for a team try out. He also noted that he wouldn’t make that (Buccaneers) team with dem boys (Evans and Godwin).
The year 2020 has certainly been an intriguing one thus far, and where ever the rest of this year takes us, one thing is for sure, there is no shortage of high quality entertainment when it comes to Tom Brady.
