This past draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected two Minnesota Gophers. Antoine Winfield Jr. is a safety that can play the pass just as good as the run, and Tyler Johnson is a speedy receiver with natural hands and route-running ability. They are both expected to make a major impact this season as rookies, assuming there is one. (Please be a season) the young gophers made the Big Ten All-Decade Team that was just recently released. Making this list is an awesome feat when you start thinking about the names that have come from the Big Ten.
Obviously, both of these playmakers made enough plays in college to catch the eyes of Jason Licht and Bruce Arians, along with the rest of the Buccaneer staff. Winfield Jr. finished his career with 177 total tackles, nine interceptions, and 3 TDs in 33 career games. Tyler Johnson’s four-year career in Minnesota ended with over 200 career receptions (213), a smidgen over 3300 career receiving yards and 33 TDs in his career.
