Just a Number?

Some may not think much about a number on a football Jersey. Some may think that it’s stupid to worry about such a topic. In this case, you have two people: One is a future Hall of Fame quarterback, and the other is a 24-year-old just getting started in his football career. The quarterback is probably the best to ever play the position and has the number (12) branded. It’s part of who he is socially and monetarily. The young (24) year old has had the number (12) his entire football life and is part of who he is. Tom Brady. Chris Godwin. Number (12).

In what I consider to be a huge sacrifice for Godwin (giving his number to Brady) and a very kind gesture on his part, it also shows a maturity beyond his years! Tom Brady does realize his sacrifice, and I believe this will only grow the locker room and on-field relationship in the future! For a young person, especially in today’s society, to give up something like this is refreshing.

Hopefully, as we get the season started and more stories of the “team” instead of “self” arise, pushing the Buccaneers towards a winning attitude and victories on the field! Starting a new era with the biggest free-agent signing in team history is a good sign for us fans to see that it’s not beginning with a quarrel! The team and everyone involved need to be united! For us fans, we need to be ready for our team to win. It’s the only expectation in my mind! Patience at first as the team gels, but I feel that it won’t take long to start winning! As always, Go Bucs!
