Riddle’s Rundown: Bucs should take a long look at Jake Fromm.

Another season in the books and, in my opinion, another disappointing season from Jameis Winston; yes, he did throw for over 5,000 yards with 33 TDs, but it came with 30 ints 7 of those being pick 6’s to go with 12 fumbles. It has become completely evident that Winston has a turnover problem and most likely always will have a turnover problem.

Some fans have gone as far as wanting GM Jason Licht to take a QB this year to be the heir apparent to Winston should he not work out. It just so happens I have a QB that will put up huge numbers in this system, and that’s Georgia QB Jake Fromm with many analysts still having him available in the second round.

At 6’2″ and 220lbs, Fromm isn’t a huge QB, but he is far from being frail. He had not missed a game in 3 years. He is also extremely accurate, having never throwing more than 7 INTs in a season and accuracy is one of the things that Bucs scouts are interested in.

He ended his junior season with 2,860 yards with 24 TDs and 7 INTs with a 60.8 completion percentage and a 141.2 QBR overall. Fromm is also SEC tested and won the SEC championship in his freshman year, so he plays well in big games. Some detractors may say that he doesn’t have the best arm strength, and maybe he doesn’t, but he also does not turn the ball over and knows how to get the ball into his playmaker’s hands; which isn’t going to be too hard with Mike Evans and Chris Godwin as your WRs. His accuracy and decision making, more than make up for his arm strength. Fromm has one of the highest football IQs in this draft and is a proven leader. I’d like to see him as a Buccaneer.
