During the preseason, the Buccaneers showcased a bunch of newly acquired talent at the receiver position, but none stuck out more to me than the young man out of the Illinois State University. Schnell played in 4 games during the preseason, recording 7 catches out of 9 targets for 119 yards.
Although he didn’t score in any of those games, there were times where he looked like a one-man wrecking crew. In a surprising move, which shocked the pants off of me the Buccaneers let Schnell walk, and even more surprising, no one picked him up.
I thought the kid was really good, but what do I know? I just watch stuff and talk about it. I don’t cut their checks or call games that’s all up to those who are in charge of that, whether I or anyone, like it.
According to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, the Buccaneers are planning on signing Schnell, who worked out with the team last week, to the practice squad. I certainly hope he gets a shot at regular-season action before it’s all over with, and I hope he brings that same fire he had during this preseason. Boy, he was fun to watch.
#GoBucs plan to sign Spencer Schnell, the undrafted free agent from Illinois State who spent the preseason with Tampa Bay. He worked out last week for the Bucs.
