Franchise-Record Watch: Jameis Winston and Mike Evans

The Buccaneers head to Nashville this week to take on the Tennesee Titans. Some call this a revenge game. The last time the Buccaneers played the Titans was in 2015, and well, I don’t want to talk about that. I will say this though, it was freaking hot that day, in Raymond James Stadium. The season opener in 2015 was the debut of QB Jameis Winston and QB Marcus Mariota, #1 and #2 overall in the 2015 NFL draft, and I’m going to end that topic right there. However, what I will discuss are the franchise records that both Jameis Winston and Mike Evans can achieve this week.

The first franchise-record will certainly be achieved as Jameis Winston only needs a measly 19 attempts to surpass Vinny Testaverde for most pass attempts in franchise history with 2,161. Winston already owns multiple franchise records, most TDs in franchise history (100), and most passing yards in franchise history (16399), just to name a few. Owning the most passing attempts is not really a major deal or anything, but it adds to his list of franchise records, and that’s something!

Mike Evans has a franchise-record coming up this week that is a little tougher to obtain but is absolutely achievable. Evans needs exactly 9 receptions in Nashville to surpass James Wilder with 431. Evans already owns franchise records for most targeted (772), most receiving yards (6,567), and most receiving touchdowns (44). He did have 9 receptions during the loss to Carolina in London; however, he has only accumulated 10 receptions in 4 games aside from the 8 receptions in the loss against the Giants in week 3. Evans should be a big part of this week’s aerial attack against the Titans, and both of our franchise faces will see another entry in the Buccaneers Franchise Record books.
