In Tampa Bay, the Sack Shaq remains open for business. With 9 QB takedowns through 4 weeks, Shaq Barrett is undeniably the best defensive player in the NFL right now.
This is where Bucs fans are getting frustrated. The week 4 defensive player of the week was awarded to Giants CB, Janoris Jenkins. With 3 picks it cannot be denied that Jenkins had a good game; but do you know who had a better game?
Of course, it was the Buccaneers own Shaq Barrett. 3 tackles (2 for a loss), 2 passes defended, 1 interception, 1 sack, and 1 forced fumble that was returned for a TD. Whilst Jenkins did have a good game, Barrett took over the game for the Bucs. A constant problem for the LA Rams, but this wasn’t a one-off game. Every week Barrett has been getting better and has been rewarded with just one player of the week.
Could it be possible that Barrett continues to ball out and wins the DPOY award? Absolutely his play is deserving, but it seems to be an uphill struggle with the lack of love being shown to Barrett.
