Brooks-James came into the league as undrafted and was picked up by the Falcons after having an impressive showing during their rookie minicamp. He played for 5 seasons (2015-2018) at the University of Oregon, recording 1863 yards on 283 attempts, and 18 touchdowns. He also has caught 40 passes for 392 yards and an additional 2 touchdowns over a 42 game span. As a bonus, Brooks-James is no stranger to the job of kick returner. During his career at Oregon, he fielded 44 kicks, gaining 1047 yards, and a touchdown. He recorded a 4.45 40 time during his pro day at the University of Oregon.

The young running back out of Oregon did not have a terrible preseason either. In 25 attempts, he recorded 180 yards, which is a 7.2 yard average, 2 touchdowns, and 6 first downs. (highlight video below)
