Is Vernon Hargreaves Better Suited for Man to Man?
2 min read
Is Vernon Hargreaves better suited for the man-to-man scheme than the zone defense scheme? The simple answer is yes. Despite Vernon Hargreaves’ struggles so far in his brief career, he is still one of the better corners on this team.
I am going to be brutally honest for a moment here; there are many Bucs fans, myself included, who feel as if Hargreaves hasn’t lived up to expectations, and is drifting close to bust status. He needs to show us something this season. Being plagued with several different injuries is certainly unlucky, and he hasn’t been super flashy on the field; however, the potential is still there, and I can see it.
It’s put up or shut up time for Vernon Hargreaves, or he may not be with the Bucs in 2020.
I believe that in 2019 that Vernon Hargreaves will show us that he can be a lockdown corner or at the very least the corner that he was drafted to be. Tampa Bay actually has a great defensive coordinator who knows what he is doing in Todd Bowles, something that I as well as many other Bucs fans, believe that Tampa hasn’t had since the legendary Monte Kiffin.
Hargreaves is built better for the man-to-man scheme rather than playing zone defense. He is supposed to be out there physically covering our opponent’s #1 or #2 receiver. That’s what he’s good at.
VH3, this is your time to shine. Make it happen. Get it done.
