JPP Could Play 3-4 DE

1 min read

In this new Todd Bowles defensive scheme, the Bucs will likely have a 3-4 base defensive scheme, and that could mean a change of position for some players with JPP being one of those. If the Bucs do decide to keep Gerald McCoy in this new 3-4 with the defensive front with JPP, Vita Vea, and Gerald McCoy could be quite formidable.

It wouldn’t be a huge switch for JPP. It would still be a one-gap defensive scheme, and at 6’6, 280lbs he has the size to move inside and the Bucs will most likely have newly acquired OLB Shaquil Barrett rushing from his LB spot next to JPP. Don’t be surprised to also see JPP rushing as an OLB too. Todd Bowles likes to show many different defensive fronts in order to confuse the QB. Expect to see a huge spike in sacks for this defense.
