Vernon Hargreaves is ready to get it in this season, and this time the defense will play to his skills.
The way Todd Bowles will run this year’s defense will allow Vernon Hargreaves to play his style of coverage, which is man-to-man.
Playing that style of coverage in college was one one of the reasons Hargreaves was sought after in the draft and a reason why the Buccaneers took him in the first round. Why Mike Smith had them playing soft and so far off of the receivers is beyond me, but thankfully, that is in the past.
The new look Tampa defense will be much more aggressive and definitely in your face. Hargreaves had suffered an injury that kept him sidelined, but the word from One Buc Place is that Hargreaves is at 100% and ready to get down to business.
Hargreaves showed that he is more than capable as a nickel corner and as a matter of fact, a top nickel corner in the league, but this year he will play outside and finally have the chance to redeem himself in the eyes of all the boo birds.
The former 2016 first round draft pick is not concerned about his struggles over the past few seasons, but is ready to move on from them and show everyone what he is about in this new defense that is well-suited for his talent. Many, who have followed him prior to the NFL, already know what to expect.
