Break Out Players

1 min read

The secret is out in Tampa Bay. The running, while alive, wasn’t anything to write home about in 2018. The reason could mostly be linked to something as simple as the lack of offensive line blocking, but also could be a side effect of Tampa Bay having one of the top passing offenses in the league. All of this brings us to the question, “who will be the breakout star this year in Tampa Bay?”

Maybe it’s running back Andre Ellington who’s been described as a Le’Veon Bell type of running back. Ellington, when healthy has posted 1,000 plus all-purpose yards. Now with him sharing the load with Peyton Barber, mixed in with an NFL top passing offense, could very well blow the lid wide open for Tampa Bay. The mix would create an almost unstoppable offense with teams having to worry about the backfield going downfield just as much as the wide receiving corps.

Ellington will also create a running back competition that should bring the best out of a very talented running back corps, one that is hungry for playing time and the chance to make an impact. Bruce Arians will be looking for a back to compliment Barber and Ellington who’ve shown that when healthy can do the big things when needed and will help the running game in Tampa Bay be respected once again.
