Bucs Are Shopping DeSean Jackson

2 min read

We knew this was going to happen. It was only a matter of time. Jackson has been long vocal about wanting to be traded, and it seems that now he is likely going to get his wish.

According to ESPN’s Jenna Laine and Tim McManus, the Eagles may be Jackson’s preferred destination. Bucs Life’s Jordan Butler mentioned in an article three days ago that Jackson could indeed end up in Philadelphia as he still has many ties to the city. The Eagles need a deep ball threat, and Jackson would fulfill that necessity.

Jackson mentioned in late January that he would like to play for the Rams, but where he eventually ends up is anyone’s guess. One thing is for sure at this point, and that’s trading DeSean Jackson is the best thing for both parties. I would for the Bucs to get some future draft picks out of this deal.

If the Buccaneers trade the veteran receiver, they will be relieved from their commitment of having to pay him $10 million for the season. The Buccaneers have a bit of a cap issue with just a little over $3 million remaining in the bank. Moves will need to be made by either trading or releasing some of the bigger named and the higher paid guys. With free agency knocking on the door and today, March 11th, starting the day in which teams can negotiate with their UFAs, moves will begin being made over the next few weeks.

What an exciting time!
