They Picked up where they left off.

For Bucs fans, this Monday Night game started like it was the 5th quarter of the Saints game. Unfortunately, It quickly became no Big Easy for our Bucs. Things started heading south when a Godwin touchdown from Baker Mayfield was called back on a penalty by Luke Goedeke. Mayfield then had a pass to rookie Jalen McMillan picked off in the end zone, the Ravens’ ball. Lamar Jackson then went down the field, culminating in a 9-yard pass to tight end Mark Andrews. That made the score 10-7 Bucs, a 14-point swing that changed everything. It began a string of 34 unanswered points against a depleted Bucs Defense.

Too little, too late in 4th quarter.

Mayfield and the Bucs finally got onto the scoreboard again with a touchdown toss to R. White early in the last quarter. They tacked on a two-point conversion to make the score 34-18. It was going to take a lot more than that to overcome a near-flawless night from L. Jackson. I’ve been critical of Lamar Jackson for years. On this night in Tampa, he put on quite a show for the national audience, convincing me that he’s more talented throwing the football than I ever imagined. Just so that Bucs’ Fans wouldn’t begin to harbor thoughts of a comeback. The Ravens marched right down the field, scoring another touchdown pass by Jackson to D. Henry, making it 41-18.

I, honestly, couldn’t tell you.

I’m not going to lie to my readers. After it became 41-18 at the 6:32 mark of the 4th quarter, I haven’t a clue what transpired after that. I got up and stormed out of the living room, spouting off some vocabulary that I’m pretty sure isn’t allowed in upstanding professional journalism. It’s not the end of the world or the Bucs’ hopes of a great season. It surely, though, was the bitter ending of my Monday night.
