One down three to go
The Buccaneers coasted right through the Wild Card Round with an impressive day on both sides of the ball. The fact that it was our old nemesis, The Eagles, made it that much sweeter. It’s always nice to throw a blowout on them any time we can. It was thought by some that their late-season success at running the ball just might cause us problems. Problems, what problems, we were on them like rust on a Junkyard relic. The defense was stifling from the Eagles’ first snap. Safety Mike Edwards had a monster game with 9 solo tackles and an interception. Jamel Dean and Jordan Whitehead, tied for second in tackles with six apiece. Shaquil Barrett placed a cherry on top with a Jalen Hurts pass that he batted to himself for the second interception on the day. Tom Brady and the offense went on to score after the turnover. Cementing the win on a dreary, overcast Sunday Afternoon at RayJay. That’s one down, and three to go to repeat. Keep the faith, Bucs’ fans.
Free Agent additions add little to win
Antonio Brown’s absence wasn’t missed after his departure. Le’Veon Bell never touched the ball, and Breshad Perriman had one catch for 5 yards. Ke’Shawn Vaughn and Giovani Bernard held down the running back position just fine with Scotty Miller pitching in nine yards on one rushing attempt. The running game pitched in 106 yards to the victory. Quarterback Tom Brady again had a great game with no interceptions, going 29 of 37 for 271 yards and two touchdowns. Mike Evans had a huge day, finishing with 9 receptions for 117 yards, and one touchdown. It was an impressive day, but let’s not forget that It was the Eagles that we played. The Rams will not be so easy. Other than the big win against them in Winston’s last season, they have gotten the better of us. Let’s hope the defense remains tough next week at home and shows the Rams the door. Go Bucs!
