Frustrating Loss Won’t Dictate Season

Los Angeles, Ca. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers slumped to their first loss of the season. After winning their first two games, some fans started to dream about just how good this team can be; maybe even 17-0 good?
Thankfully that talk can now end, and the Achilles Heel of the team can be addressed. There is no denying that this defensive scheme is exciting to watch. Highly aggressive and, at times, dominating, the front seven is the envy of many. But, as highlighted against the LA Rams, this defense is a one-trick pony. Injuries to the defensive backfield have exposed the weakness of this unit. When the rush isn’t getting into the backfield, this defense gives out yards like the IRS hands out tax adjustments.
Despite this fairly obvious weakness, despite the entire team looking out of synch, despite all phases of the game falling short. The offense still produced.
Looking at the stats, it would be confusing for people to see how this game was so one-sided. This is a long season, and the Bucs will lose games; that’s just football.
One loss in a poor performance does not make a season.
