Does Kyle Trask Deserve To Backup Brady?

Kyle Trask | Johnny Bowers | Bucs Life
With the Tampa Bay Buccaneers releasing their initial 53-man roster, the talk has already commenced amongst fans across all social media platforms.
It’s not a surprise, but Ryan Griffin is the odd man out of the quarterback room, even with him being brought back to be on the practice squad. After Blaine Gabbert wasted valuable playing time by tossing a pick in his limited action, rookie Kyle Trask emerged, having one of his best games this preseason, throwing a touchdown and no interceptions while completing 14 of 16 passes.
With Trask seeming to get his feet under him in his third preseason game, many fans are left wondering why the veteran Gabbert found himself ranked second on the depth chart while Trask is third. It’s apparent the Bucs are holding three active quarterbacks on the roster but has the young man that many are speculating could be Brady’s successor in a few years done enough to earn that backup role?
In a previous column, I stated that we need to hold Trask accountable for his play, and this is that time where we should be all talking about that young man at least earning that second spot on the quarterback depth chart.
I could see him getting some meaningful reps during garbage time when the Bucs take some very commanding leads.
