The Buccaneers Sign Quarterback Runningback & More

The Buccaneers were certainly busy on Tuesday with trimming the roster down to 53 active players, but on Wednesday, they were just as busy.

The team has unsurprisingly signed Quarterback Ryan Griffin to the Practice Squad along with a new face. Former Chiefs running back Darwin Thompson, according to KC Star reporter Sam McDowell, has been signed to the Practice Squad by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Darwin Thompson was drafted by the Chiefs in the 6th round of the 2019 NFL draft and appeared in 12 games as a rookie, recording 128 yards on 37 rushing attempts and 1 touchdown. He can also catch out of the backfield, hauling in 9 receptions on 10 targets for 43 yards. In 2020, he played in 14 games and recorded 97 yards on 27 carries and 1 touchdown. Receiving-wise, he caught 11 passes for 64 yards and a touchdown.

Additionally, the Buccaneers signed another familiar face to the Practice Squad: Safety Andrew Adams. Adams is best known for his 3 interceptions of Cam Newton in 2018 when the Buccaneers faced the Panthers. Those interceptions are currently the most in a single NFL game to date.

Per Greg Auman of The Athletic, the Buccaneers have also signed OL Brandon Walton, CB Herb Miller, DL Benning Potoa’e, WR Cyril Grayson, WR Jaydon Mickens, TE Cody McElroy, TE Deon Yelder, WR Travis Jonsen, DL Kobe Smith to the Practice Squad.

As for TE Tanner Hudson, he has been signed by the 49ers, and CB Chris Wilcox has been signed by the Colts.
