The Tampa Bay Buccaneers revamped a very good offense in 2019. The Buccaneers won the Tom Brady sweepstakes, and that would bring huge expectations. After news broke about Brady joining the Buccaneers, GM Jason Licht immediately shifted focus on surrounding him with as many weapons as possible. The priority was to lure Brady’s longtime friend Rob Gronkowski out of retirement. The New England Patriots sent Gronkowski and a 7th Round Pick to Tampa Bay in exchange for a 4th Round 2020 pick. Gronkowski brought stability, leadership, and a winning culture to Tampa. This past week Rob Gronkowski announced his decision to stay in the NFL for another season.

The Buccaneers will undoubtedly try to come to a contract agreement with the future Hall of Famer, but only time will tell. If I were to make an educated guess, Gronkowski will sign a contract with Tampa that could look similar to the number of years in Tom Brady’s deal. Let’s face it; when Brady and Gronk team up, it usually ends in a Super Bowl appearance. We didn’t know quite what to expect after a year of retirement, but Gronkowski didn’t disappoint Tampa Bay fans. He hauled in 45 receptions for 623 yards and 7 touchdowns. Vintage Gronkowski showed up when the lights shined brightest, Super Bowl LV. Gronkowski had 6 receptions for 67 yards and 2 touchdowns against the Kansas City Chiefs. Remember Gronkowski was basically playing himself into football shape with there being no offseason due to Covid-19.

Tom Brady and the Buccaneers will be looking to defend their championship in 2021. With that being said, most believe they have a chance to be even better next season. They will have an offseason and a year of Byron Leftwich’s offense under their belts. When it comes to winning Super Bowls, someone has to take less of a role, and Rob Gronkowski embraced every second of that role. He does everything a team needs in order to win a game. He is an elite pass-catching tight end, but he may be one of the most underrated blocking tight ends ever for the position. Things look good for a deal to be struck between Gronkowski and the Buccaneers very soon.
