Buccaneers’ 5th round draft pick Tyler Johnson is the first of many Bucs rookie to sign his rookie contract. There are no details on the exact numbers for this contract currently, but a wild guess based on comparison to last years Buccaneers 5th round pick kicker Matt Gay, who received a 4-year, $2,845,772 contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, including a $325,772 signing bonus, $325,772 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $711,443 along with 5th round pick wide receiver, Hunter Renfrow’s 4-year, $2,835,948 contract with the Oakland Raiders, including a $315,948 signing bonus, $315,948 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $708,987, I’d say it is safe to assume that Johnson’s will be in the ballpark, albeit, presumably a tad bit higher; likely in the $3,00,000+ to $3,600,000+ range, with a possible signing bonus anywhere between $250,000+ and $300,000+.
Now the former Minnesota Gopher can begin getting to work transitioning to the NFL and making a run at the 3rd receiver spot on the depth chart. Hopefully, COVID-19 hasn’t screwed up his chance for this season, considering the lack of mini camp, rookie camp, and preseason.
