We all have our visions of how this year’s NFL Draft will go for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Buccaneers are bringing back an elite offense and very underrated defense for the 2020 season. So, here is my Mock Draft 1.0. Enjoy!
The 14th pick in the first round belongs to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
THE PICK IS IN… Tampa Bay selects Andrew Thomas, OT, Georgia. The former Georgia Bulldog will be perfect to protect newly acquired quarterback Tom Brady. Thomas comes in standing 6’5 and weighs 315 lbs. He will fit in nicely with the veteran group already in the trenches for the Buccaneers. Thomas is physical and will provide much-needed stability at the tackle position.
Round 2: Tampa Bay will stick with offense snagging Ohio State running back JK Dobbins. He will be an essential piece to the already loaded offense in Tampa. The Buccaneers have Ronald Jones, but there are questions if he can be the back the Buccaneers need in 2020. Dobbins rushed 300+ times in 2019 with the Buckeyes. He averaged 6.7 yards per carry. Dobbins found the end zone 21 times. He’s also had 20+ receptions in all three seasons at Ohio State.
Round 3: The Buccaneers pull the surprise move of the 2020 NFL Draft. We will be selecting WR/TE out of LSU Thaddeus Moss. I can already hear fans out there in the football universe screaming, “What about Howard, Brate, and Hudson?” I believe there will be a draft-day trade for one of the three tight ends currently on the roster. Thaddeus Moss is a match-up nightmare for any secondary. Moss is 6’3, 245 lbs of speed, agility, and strength. He hauled in 47 receptions for 547 yards and 4 touchdowns at LSU. “BRADY to MOSS for the TOUCHDOWN!” – Sound Familiar?
Round 4: Tampa Bay selects the heir to Brady’s throne in Jalen Hurts. The Oklahoma Sooner put up unbelievable numbers this past season. There are rumors that some coaches want him to switch positions, but Hurts has shut all those rumors down quickly. He threw for an eye-popping 3,851 yards, 32 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions. Hurts was also a Heisman Trophy finalist in 2020. I believe he may be out to prove his critics wrong just like Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.
Round 5-7: The Buccaneers select CB – A.J Green, DT – Brandon Pill, and DE – Bobby Roundtree. The steal of the draft could be Illinois Fighting Illini defensive end, Bobby Roundtree. The former Illini was destined for the 1st or 2nd round before suffering a spinal injury. He is currently recovering with hopes to play in the NFL. He had 117 total tackles with 17.5 being for a loss and 12.5 being sacks. Roundtree is 6’5 and weighs 255 lbs. If there was a player comparison to him, it would Simeon Rice.
The 2020 NFL season brings the Buccaneers an immense amount of hope. Free Agent signees Tom Brady, Shaq Barrett, Jason Pierre-Paul, Ndamukong Suh, Jason Haeg, Ryan Smith, and Andrew Adams look to get the Buccaneers back to the playoffs with the hopes of being the first team ever to play a home game in the Super Bowl.
