At the time when we posted this; and asked the question: What do you notice? Many only saw the glasses, and very few noticed the knee brace. We kept it quiet other than hinting at the surgery/injury here and there but later that week talking more openly about it.
The news had been confirmed by All Things Buccaneers writers Cory Hays and Jameis 1of1 the day before this being posted. Sometimes we sit on information for a day or so.
Yep, we knew! And if you were willing to pay attention, you knew as well. But when did the injury happen?
On November 17, 2019, against the New Orleans Saints when they came to town. The injury occurred int he final 5 minutes of the game. The Buccaneers were facing 4th and 10 on their own 32-yard line, when Jameis Winston takes the snaps, throws deep down the sideline towards the vicinity of Mikes Evans and Marcus Williams of the Saints intercepts the pass taking it back 55 yards for the score. The injury occurred on Winston’s attempt to catch the New Orleans safety. He ended up playing the final six games of the season with the injury and kept it low-key.
It appears that news of the injury and surgery have come out recently, as breaking news, however, anyone who follows Bucs Life Media or All Things Buccaneers knew of this as early as the first week of February. In this video below you can see Jameis Winston limping.
