It’s been a long time since the Bucs had a truly solid CB, and now it looks like they might have three.
Carlton Davis, along with rookies Jamel Dean and Sean Murphy-Bunting, have all had very solid seasons, but I am extremely impressed with Murphy-Bunting in particular.
Against the Texans, Murphy-Bunting held 4-time Pro Bowler, DeAndre Hopkins, to five catches for just 23 yards, and that’s not all. Murphy-Bunting also recorded a sack, a forced fumble, and four solo tackles. That gives him 41 tackles, eight pass defends, three INTs with one for a touchdown, one forced fumble, and one sack so far on the season. It appears as though the rookie from the small school of Central Michigan is going to be a very special player at cornerback. A position the Bucs sorely need.
