The 30-30 club is normally reserved for Major League Baseball players, and it’s an honor reserved for those who have hit 30 home runs and stole 30 bases, but next week, Jameis Winston could create the 30-30 club for the NFL. I’m just not sure that accomplishing that would a great honor.
No player in NFL history has ever thrown for 30 touchdowns and thirty interceptions, and Winston is just two interceptions away from becoming the first. Winston has thrown a career-high 31 touchdowns on the year, and that’s not all that unusual for a quarterback to do, but throwing 30 interceptions alongside that number is unheard of.
Winston could make history next week, but the Falcons suck at picking the football off, so maybe it won’t happen.
2019 has been an odd season, full of records, and Winston has had his fair share of them. I hope he doesn’t make NFL history on Sunday, but it is certainly a rare achievement.
