Surprise! The Bucs have been bad for a very long time, so bad we are expected to lose. Bucs fans are so used to having losing seasons that we can’t see anything different. However, that is all about to change. At least Bruce Arians thinks so, and he also believes the team thinks so as well.
When talking about the win against the Colts, he set the stage for why he believes the team is growing and the culture is changing.
“I actually like this win better for that reason. It shows the growth of this football team. It’s easy to be front runners and win when everything is going your way. Hardly anything was going our way during this one, but we hung in there and found a way to win. I like that at this stage of where we’re at in the season. I like that win a whole lot more.”
“For us to possibly win four-in-a-row, then five-in-a-row against a real good Houston team, and then it’s going to be a struggle in Detroit this week with the number of injuries we’ve got, but that’s building blocks. The culture is set because the other guys aren’t accepting it anymore. They don’t accept losing any more. That’s kind of what the guys stood up and said in the locker room. I didn’t have to say much, we ain’t accepting this sh*t anymore. You know it’s getting across.”
Now, as for the fans, fans will be fans, and considering we’ve dealt with losing for so long, we are in, “seeing is believing” mode. I don’t blame anyone for that. We have been hyped up only to be let down, so many times, that we’ve all but given up on our Buccaneers. But a lot of fans, especially die-hards, are resilient and would never give up on the team we hold near and dear.
Hopefully, Arians is right, and the culture is changing at 1 Buccaneer Place, and the Buccaneers are done with losing. As my buddy and father of our center always says, “The stage is set!” So strike up the band!
