Missing: OJ Howard

1 min read

It’s only 2 weeks in the 2019 season, and many are wondering where OJ Howard has been. He’s been on the field, that’s where. Howard was set to have a breakout year under new head coach Bruce Arians and new offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich.

2019 though started real rough for the 2017 1st round draft pick out of Alabama. Howard was targeted 5 times, bringing in 4 of them for 32 yards. That 1 ball that got away though, he tipped for an interception. Sadly enough, one of those catches resulted in a lost fumble at the Bucs 10 yard line. All of these which happened in week 1 against the 49ers.

Enter week 2 [a Thursday night Prime-Time game against division rival the Panthers] Howard was just as silent aa a house on Christmas Eve. He wasn’t targeted a single time.

This has many fans wondering, what’s going on with a guy who was a huge part of the offense the last 2 seasons until the injury bug plagued him. In just 2 short seasons,

Howard has amassed 64 catches for 1,029 yards and 11 touchdowns in 26 games. But fear not, it’s not time to panic over the lack of production. This is indeed a new offense, so it may take some time for Winston and Howard to get the chemistry back on track. After all, this isn’t Dirk’s long ball offense anymore.

Stay tuned for any new developments with Howard.
