The Bucs have their own Shaq

No, I’m not talking about Shaquille O’Neal, but I am talking about OLB Shaquil Barret, who was brought in via free agency from the Denver Broncos. Barrett, who was signed in 2014 by the Broncos as an UDFA, spent his time learning from linebacker Von Miller from 2014-2018.
In those 4 years, Barrett tallied 61 games (15 started), 151 tackles and 14 sacks, 7 forced fumbles, and 3 fumble recoveries. Not bad for a guy who was spending time backing up DeMarcus Ware, until injuries to Ware ultimately allowed him to shine.
Fast forward: 2019
Barrett, who signed a 1 year deal with the Bucs, looked very good in week 1. He is credited with the Bucs first (and only sack) in a losing effort to the 49ers. So what can we expect going forward? It’ll be interesting to see how Bowles continues to use Barrett in his scheme. One thing is for sure, he definitely brings a lot of speed to the outside rush. He’s going to need to use his speed if he wants to blow past Panthers tackle Daryl Williams.
In the meantime, let’s just be hyped for Bucs football, Thursday night prime-time edition. GO BUCS!!
