Evans to IR!
1 min read
As per News from Greg Auman, The Athletic, Safety Justin Evans has been placed on IR.
Evans has been battling leg/ankle/Achilles issues since the end of August. Until succumbing to injury, the safety was slotted to start at FS in Todd Bowles new-look defense. With Justin Evans being placed on IR that isn’t going to happen until at least week 9, should he be able to return at this point?
Drafted 50th overall in 2017, the former Aggie has been plagued by injury even before being drafted. Invited to perform at the combine, Evans was unable to complete drills due to a calf injury. This would be a foreshadowing as Justin Evans would be placed on IR for the first time on December 20th, 2017.
2018 started well for his 2nd year as he showed fans why he was worth that 2nd round pick. This wouldn’t last as Evans again would battle injuries, eventually leaving the Week 13 game against the Carolina Panthers; eventually being placed on IR again on December 2nd.
At year 3 in Evans’ career we still truly don’t know what he can offer to the team. So many flashes of potential and what if.
The 2nd round curse seems to continue and as I’ve said often, the best ability is availability.
Justin Evans does not have that.
