Barber and Jones: Showing Signs of The One Two Punch.
1 min read
Most great running games come with a 1-2 punch, take the Saints last year with RBs Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara, they were possibly the best RB tandem in the NFL. But this year, there are two new RBs in the NFC South that could be the next great duo.
During last Friday’s preseason game against the Steelers, Ronald Jones didn’t play long, but they left us with what could be just a taste of what’s to come. On the opening drive, Barber got the start rushing 3 times for 18-yards with a 4-yard catch out of the backfield, and Jones had 4 carries for 18-yards and a 5-yard screen pass that set up a Chris Godwin TD catch.
It is important to note that both RBs ran hard and hit the hole with authority, especially Jones, who never really got going last year. Last Friday could be just a brief glimpse of what’s to come we should see a little more this Friday against the Dolphins.
