D’Cota Dixon did not hear his name called during the 2019 NFL Draft, but that doesn’t mean he’s not a good player. Since being signed by Tampa as an undrafted free agent back in May, he has been working to make a name for himself.
Scott Smith, the senior writer for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, was on hand to give an account of what Bruce Arians had briefly to say about the young safety last night. “Smart, tough. Really got a chance to make this team.”
On day 2 of training camp, Dixon laid the wood on Ronald Jones, so hard that one had to wonder how ROJO managed to get back up. The hit generated oooh’s and ahh’s from the crowd. The video brought to you by PewterReport.com was shot at a distance so you have to pay attention or you’ll miss the hit. You certainly will hear the collision.

Last night during practice D’Cota Dixon ball hawks a long pass and takes it to the house. A deep pass thrown by Jameis Winston seemed to be right on the money, however, Dixon had other plans. Hawking the quarterback and putting himself into prime position while defending the 50, Dixon got the jump on the pass and took it the other way to the promised land as you can see here in another PewterReport video.

The Wisconsin Badger is no stranger to making solid defensive plays. During his five seasons with the University of Wisconsin, Dixon recorded 179 total tackles, 2.5 sacks, 11 pass defends, 3 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries, 5 interceptions, and 2.5 sacks in 44 games.
Coach already said he has a shot at making the team, but where he lands is anyone’s guess. One thing is for sure as he progresses he is getting more notoriety, which translates into more reps, allowing him to showcase his skills and gain more chances to earn a place on this roster. I know I will be keeping an eye on him during the preseason.
