Winston to get Franchise Tag instead of Long Term Deal?

The question has been raised regarding whether or not Jameis Winston will sign a long term deal or the Bucs will franchise tag him next offseason.
I, for one, believe that it’s all going to depend on his performance. Many of my fellow Bucs fans believe the same thing. 2019 is a make or break year for Winston. I’m rooting for him to have as much success as he possibly can.
In an article titled “NFL 2019: Predicting Results for ‘Prove-It’ Year Quarterbacks” by Randy Gurzi of NFL Spinzone, he gives his prediction for Winston.
Gurzi points out that so far in his brief four-year stint with the Bucs, Winston is 21 and 33. Gurzi also states that “this season will be huge for Winston’s career as he looks to become the first-ever Bucs quarterback to get a second contract. Helping him will be the new head coach Bruce Arians who has a history of getting the most out of his quarterbacks. If anyone can help him take the next step, this seems like the guy.”
Gurzi’s Prediction: Winston plays well enough to get a shot in 2020 with Tampa Bay, but it will be on the franchise tag as they remain understandably cautious.
We’ll see whether or not Gurzi’s prediction comes true or not. We’re all hoping for the best for Jameis!
