Can Justin Evans Bounce Back?

1 min read

In 2017 the Bucs thought they had found their FS of the future in Justin Evans. He started 9 games, recorded 3 INT, 6 PD, and 65 tackles. Evans established himself as a devastating hitter and a ball hawk playing as well as any young safety in the league.

Then 2018 happened and Evans, along with the rest of the defensive backfield had a total meltdown. Evans went down with an injury after 10 games and did not return. Without Evans, the Bucs had no depth at DB, and it definitely showed.

Now it’s a new year, and Evans should be fully healed. The Bucs could definitely use him out there. Evans has the ability to play in the box and is athletic enough to play the nickel position in coverage if needed; only the better safeties in the league can do that. With Evans healthy and Carlton Davis looking good at the corner spot, hopefully, our defensive backfield could turn into a strength this season.
