White recently lost his father and spent Thanksgiving without him for the first time, but that didn’t stop him from making a difference in someone else’s life. White with a heart of gold handed out 500 turkeys and 45 thanksgiving meal kits to families in need in Louisiana and Florida.
White admitted that he is honored by being selected for Week 13 NFLPA Community MVP and that the last few weeks have been tough since losing his dad. He also knows that his dad is proud of all the good things he is doing on and off the field.
White received the news of his father’s passing while heading to the team’s flight to Germany. White earned NFC Defensive layer of the Week for his performance in which he recorded 9 tackles, 2 sacks, and 1 forced fumble against the Seahawks in Germany. The day before his father’s funeral, He and his mother honored his father’s memory by handing out $15,000.00 in turkeys in his hometown of Cullen, Lousiana.
Several days later, in Tampa, White, via his GEt Live 45 Foundation, helped 450 foster children and their families have a happy Thanksgiving.
The NFLPA will make a $10,000.00 contribution to the charity or foundation of Devin White’s choice; he will also be eligible for this year’s Alan Page Community Award, the highest honor the NFLPA can give to a player! GET LIVE 45!
