Todd Bowles has earned a Bachelor’s Degree!
“Last week, Buccaneers Head Coach Todd Bowles completed the requirements for a Bachelor of Science in youth and community development through the Center for Accelerated and Adult Education at Mount St. Mary’s University. Bowles began his empowering, yet unorthodox, adult educational journey in the Summer of 2020, prior to the Buccaneers’ Super Bowl Championship campaign.”- Excerpt from an article by Buccaneers Staff Writer/Reporter Brianna Dix: Head Coach Todd Bowles Earns Bachelor’s Degree from Mount St. Mary’s University
I always love reading stories about how despite athletes, former athletes, and coaches, whether college or pro, being in the sports world and making enough money to retire very comfortably, it is still important to them to go back and get their college degree. I have always been a proponent of that. What if things don’t work out? There has to be something to fall back on for life after sports. Obviously, that won’t be an issue for Bowles, but at least he has another accomplishment to be proud of.
Here’s what Todd Bowles had to say about it. “Completing my degree was something I had always wanted to do over the years because it was something I had promised my mother when I went to play in the NFL, and I wanted to follow through on that promise,” said Bowles. “Over the years, as I became a father, it became something I wanted to do in order to set a proper example for my sons as they continue on their educational paths. I have also worked pretty extensively with children through my various community projects, and I felt it was important to show them they can achieve whatever they set their mind to.”
Bowles has now set a good example for his kids. I’m sure this degree will come in handy as it pertains to community outreach activities, such as engaging in leading football camps in the city of Tampa as well as the state of Florida. I’m really proud of Bowles. He is someone I admire and look up to. Congratulations, Todd Bowles! Go Bucs!
