According to what a source told Jeff Howe of The Athletic, Tampa Bay Buccaneers All-Pro Right tackle is to have surgery on his right ankle in order to repair two torn ligaments, including one that is torn from the bone.
Tristan Wirfs was injured early in the first quarter of the 2021 Wild Card game versus the Philadelphia Eagles; he came out of the football game and later returned, but he had to come back out of the game due to his injury.
Wirfs has become one of the best right tackles in the NFL, and since coming into the league in 2020, Wirfs has only allowed 3 sacks in 2,255 snaps.
The type of injury Wifrs sustained is a tough one to swallow, especially for the position he plays, but he is young and should be able to recover by the time June or July rolls around.
