Bruce Arians Could Cut Antonio Brown?

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Antonio Brown is in the dog house amid allegations of using a Fake COVID-19 vaccination card and is serving a three-game suspension due to the NFL and NFLPA’s investigation results. Last week via NBC’s Pro Football talk, there was word that the Buccaneers could cut the veteran receiver.

As of last week, this was purely speculative; however, Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians appeared on the Dan Patrick Show on Tuesday and was perfectly clear that parting ways with Antonio Brown; is possible.

“It could go either way right now; it really could.”

Dan Patrick asked Bruce Arians, “when do you make a decision on Antonio Brown?” Bruce Arians replied, “probably later this week.” Dan Patrick then asked the Bucs head coach, “what are you leaning towards?” and Coach replied, “Uh, it could go either way right now, it really could.” Dan Patrick then asked what the basis for his decision would be; Bruce Arians replied that it’s “just continuing where those guys are at (also speaking about Mike Edwards, who is also on suspension for violating COVID-19 protocol) and where the team is at.”

It seems like Bruce Arians isn’t quite sure what his decision will be, and many factors will determine his choice.

If the Buccaneers do, in fact, cut Antonio Brown and Mike Edwards, the team risks both players being picked up by a contender, or even a competitor, as they head into the final stretch of the season and to the front door of the Playoffs. In my opinion, if the decision is made to cut either player or both, it would make football sense to cut them following this season. As for whether or not they play, Edwards, I believe, would play, with Brown sitting out as a healthy scratch.
