Carlton Davis celebrates Super Bowl win | Chris O'Meara
On Friday, the Buccaneers announced that they have activated CB Carlton Davis III from injured reserve. This is a huge boost for the secondary as they continue to deal with injuries and are now dealing with the three game suspension of S Mike Edwards for producing a fake COVID-19 vaccination card.
Davis III was placed on injured reserve with a quadriceps injury that he suffered back in Week 4 against the New England Patriots on a special teams play. On the season before his injury, Davis III had 15 tackles and one interception.
When speaking to the media earlier this week about reuniting with CB Sean Murphy-Bunting and the Buccaneers secondary, Davis III had the following to say:
“It will be fun. I’ve missed those guys so much – just playing with them and being around them. Having your brothers’ back – there is nothing like it. The chemistry between us is crazy and to be back out on the field with them will be fulfilling for me because I miss it so much. I felt like – like I said earlier – the kid who just couldn’t play and had to watch everybody else play. Going back out there with those guys should be a ton of fun.”
The Buccaneers let Davis III heal from his injury for almost two months and now it’s go time. Time for CD3 to step on the field and take over as CB1 once again. He will be hungry against the Falcons today so expect a lot of aggressiveness and fire.
