The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are bringing in Mississippi State Linebacker Erroll Thompson for a workout on Monday. Thompson played in 47 games, recording 125 solo tackles, 312 total tackles, 23 tackles for a loss, 10 sacks, 3 interceptions, 4 passes defended, 2 forced fumbles, and 1 fumble recovery in three years as a starter for the Bull Dogs.
Erroll Thompson was signed by the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent in 2021 and had shown a lot of promise. During the preseason, he recorded 1 pass defended, 1 hit on the QB, 4 solo tackles, and 12 total tackles. He suffered a head injury during the preseason when the Falcons faced the Miami Dolphins. He was later cut during the Falcon’s roster trim.
The former 2020 Bull Dogs captain is a sufficient run stopper, and aggressive, and known to be a bruiser on the field. He is a little rough around the edges, but if he makes the Buccaneers squad, he could turn into an asset for the team’s depth in the Linebacker department.
