Yesterday, the Buccaneers signed CB Richard Sherman to a one-year deal worth up to $2.25M. Sherman was waiting on the perfect opportunity to sign with a team, and the Buccaneers seemed like a fit. QB Tom Brady reached out to Sherman to peak his interest in playing, and Sherman jumped at the opportunity to team up not only with the G.O.A.T. but with all of the great talents that Tampa has. Below is what Sherman had to say about what he can bring to the Buccaneers this season.

“The same thing I usually bring – I think I bring a level of leadership and accountability. I think I bring a high level of play. I think, sometimes, from the outside looking in, people think; he’s this old, and that changes the way you play, but it really doesn’t. My standard of play is just higher. The standards that people hold me to are just higher. I’m not allowed to have bad games. I’m not allowed to give up catches without getting killed. I think the accountability part, I’ll bring that, and hopefully, I’ll earn the respect of my teammates.”

Sherman is going to help the Buccaneers young secondary with his knowledge and veteran leadership. He is down to his old playing weight of 195 pounds and is definitely going to be able to contribute at a high level in Tampa. The signing couldn’t have come at a better time as the secondary is banged up and needs all of the help that they can get right now. As of right now, the Buccaneers are ranked dead last in passing defense, giving up 338.3 yards a game.
