When Sean Murphy-Bunting went down with an injury in week one, the Buccaneers took a huge hit. Murphy-Bunting and Carlton Davis III are the two starting CBs in Tampa and the Bucs would have to fill that void with Jamel Dean.
Fast forward two weeks and Dean goes down with a knee injury against the Los Angeles Rams. Dean escaped a serious knee injury but it’s likely that he is going to miss time as well.
Enter Richard Sherman. After the Cowboys game, Buccaneers QB Tom Brady began communicating with Sherman about possibly joining the team. Sherman is down to his old playing weight with the Seahawks of 195 pounds and is ready to go.
Today, the Buccaneers are visiting with Sherman and working him out for a potential signing. If Sherman signs, then it goes to show that what Tom wants, he gets.
Tom wanted Rob Gronkowski and Leonard Fournette and Antonio Brown and the Bucs acquired all of them at different periods of time last season. Sherman would be a huge acquisition to the team as the veteran leader in the secondary. We’ll see how it all plays out but if the past is any indication, then Sherman will be a Buccaneer tomorrow.
