Today, the Buccaneers announced that they have promoted WR Jaydon Mickens to the active roster. Mickens was promoted after the team released S Chris Cooper yesterday.
On Thursday, Mickens was elevated from the practice squad and did a great job as the return man. In the game, Mickens had 106 total return yards between punts and kicks.
Rookie WR Jaelon Darden was inactive for the game as most believed he would be the return man, and Bruce Arians stated that he didn’t want to let Darden fail as a rookie, which is why a veteran was used in a big game like Thursday’s. There’s still a possibility that Darden can be the return man later on down the road, but for the moment, Mickens locked the job down for himself.
