It has been the topic of much speculation on when Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady may walk away from the game of football. The G.O.A.T., who is 44 years of age, had mentioned that he would play until he is 45, which his 2021 contract suggests, but also hinted at playing even longer. Brady has stated that he will remain in the NFL as long as he feels that he can contribute to his team, predominantly lead them to a championship. Luckily for the city of Tampa: He loves it here.

“Whatever I thought I was getting into; it’s been so much better,” Brady told Tampa Bay Times’ Rick Stroud. “As good as I could’ve envisioned, it’s been even more enjoyable than that. It’s pretty much, a different life than being in the Northeast. I had a great 20 years, and I never want to take away from that. Also, this experience has been amazing. A great-kept-secret. It’s a small city. Everything is close. The airport is close. Work is close. We live on the water. “Hopefully, I’ll be here a long time. For many years.”

“I can still throw the ball like I’m 24.”

With no signs of slowing down, the G.O.A.T. is healthy and could possibly have one of the best seasons of his career. Tom Brady played last season with a knee injury and played in the Super Bowl with a fully torn MCL. He had surgery this offseason and says that now, he can move freely without the need for a knee sleeve. In showing what Brady has done over the past 10+ seasons with a knee sleeve hindering his mobility, one can only imagine what he can accomplish this season with the offense he has here in Tampa. Career-best season sounds about right.

“It’s good for me to feel like I can move around freely,” Brady said. “I had a knee sleeve on for 13 years. Just that little bit of compression keeps a hamstring from working the right way. You try to compress the knee to keep it more stable, but then you’re also compressing the quad. This is the first time that I’ve been able to run and not think about it. I’m not going to turn into Michael Vick out there, but at least I’m not going to be super restricted.”
