Bucs 5th round draft pick Tyler Johnson had a rookie experience that most can only dream about having. Not only was he catching passes from the G.O.A.T., but he was also part of a historic Super Bowl team. Not many rookies wide receivers drafted in the 5th round are afforded that type of situation. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were stacked at the receiver position with some of the best in the game, so considering Tyler Johnson found his way onto the field is impressive. Even more so is that he was catching passes in the playoffs.

Johnson came into training camp this year a little out of shape and a bit overweight. He seemingly fell victim to a slight Super Bowl hangover. It’s not a big deal to Bucs fans, but it was not something that Bruce Arians was not happy to see.

After spending the past month working on shedding the extra weight and returning to form, Johnson is right where he needs to be, and Arians is happy.

“He’s in good shape now,” Coach Arians said. “He learned a lesson, but his weight is down, and he’s in good shape. He’s ready to roll.”

How did the second-year receiver do it? “I’ve just been staying on top of my body. Like I said earlier in the year, it was all me that came back in that type of shape. It’s definitely something I learned from and definitely won’t happen again.”

Now that he has learned from his mistake, we can turn the page and begin reading the next chapter of Tyler Johnson’s career. Lesson learned.
